AIMS OS is an operating system built for students at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences Senegal. Debian 13 (Trixie) base, French-localised GNOME 48, plus the scientific and developer stack tuned to the 45 courses of the 2025-2026 curriculum.
Get started
Section titled “Get started” Install from the ISO On bare metal, via UTM (Mac M-series), QEMU, VirtualBox or a USB key.
On existing Debian The official apt repo lets you add the stack on top of an installed Trixie.
First boot What happens at the first login, and how to verify everything works.
Tracks
Section titled “Tracks” Regular Mathematical Sciences SciPy, R, Octave, Maxima, TeX Live, Jupyter, HPC. Common ground for the whole cohort.
